Hello, and welcome to The Little Box Shop™™. All of the offerings on this site are
crafted by me in my shop in southeastern
Minnesota, USA.
I
received my college degree in business
but found that my love for wood and wood
sculpting, specifically wooden jewelry
boxes and keepsake boxes, has led me to
devoting all my time to the craft. I
enjoy the simplicity and complexity of
box design and crafting unique, quality
heirlooms. Many of my pieces are
influenced through the extraordinary
craftsmanship of Peter Lloyd and Andrew
Crawford. You can find their website
links here. Each piece is handcrafted
individually by me. My rustic jewelry boxes and
keepsake boxes consist of a mix of
mostly domestic and some exotic
hardwoods. All my pieces are crafted
with time tested joinery techniques.
Each piece is signed on the bottom and
dated. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and
has its own celebratory characteristics. Unlike
throw-away pieces, these works will be
in your family a long time.
After selecting my hardwood from local
mills, the lumber is brought back to my
shop where it is machined and
dimensioned.
After careful sanding and other
preparations, several coats of fine
Danish oil are hand rubbed into each
piece and they are waxed with a
three-step buffing process.
I incorporate other material into my
pieces from time to time such as steal,
aluminum, brass and glass. I strive to incorporate
a very high standard of quality and
craftsmanship in every wooden piece I
create.
