This one-of-a-kind piece measures
approximately 15" x 40"and is CNC carved out of
birds eye maple. The carvings are actually carved out
of the wood instead of cutout and glued to the
surface. The piece includes an ebonized Walnut
frame measuring 3/4" thick x 3" wide. The frame is joined with
box joint joinery at the corners. The maple is 3/4"
thick. The carvings were burned to enhance shading
and dimension. This was a commissioned piece that
incorporated 5"x 7" photos belonging to the client.
The photo frames are carved out from the back side
to accommodate 1/8" inch glass, the photo and a
backing. Aluminum rounds have been inset into the
walnut frame and buffed to
remove machining marks. |
